Day #68: Rest Day in Keystone

Well, it was sort of a "rest" day... I left the saddle bags in the motel room and rode my pared-down bike the 850 feet up to Mount Rushmore. The 2.5 miles took 40 minutes to climb and I was dripping sweat at the top, but it was worth it! Mount Rushmore struck me a lot like when we saw the Declaration of Independence and The Constitution at the National Archives... like sacred ground in celebration of our democracy.

My eyes aren't so great, so I didn't realize that we could see the sculptures from the motel... doh!

On the ride up...

In the national park...

Yes, that's sweat...

No words needed...

Looking back at Mount Rushmore and the Black Hills...

Snapshot: 5 miles, starting at 8:45am and ending at 11am, with 1 hour of actual riding (40 minutes up, 20 down :-)

I mean, wow... even in photos that's spellbinding. Just crazy that you biked from Boston to it! It's only a model though, right? :) -Nof

The motel literally sits at the foot of the mountain (at the watch of the presidents). Mountain Rushmore is definitely at top of our list.
