The temperature was forecast to hit 100 degrees, with a bit of a headwind as well, so I wanted to get out early to beat both the wind and the high temp. As I left the motel parking lot, I passed some folks on Harleys, probably headed for Sturgis. I said, "wherever you're going I bet I'll get there slower." One of the motorcyclists replied, "but you get better mileage," to which I said "I don't know, I'm going through a lot of pickles and BLTs"
There's a funny solidarity with folks on motorcycles... it's like I'm the kid brother... on two wheels but lacking a motor...
The prairie looked so pretty in the dawn light:
I met a lovely young couple on the road. They were riding from Oregon back home to Chicago. We compared notes and routes. It turned out they talked with Mark a few days earlier :-)
Action shots:
Snapshot: 33 miles starting at 6:30am and ending at 10:45am, with 3 hours of actual riding:
Wow, the fact that the couple talked to Mark feels like something that would happen in a movie! I love the exchange with the motorcyclists too... -Nof
So beautiful. Have a good weekend!
