No math today, but I should mention I loved Trev's comment on the shortest path. If the paths have width of course he's right, since he's a really serious rally car race driver :-)
I have been so lucky with the weather so far... almost all of the rain storms have obligingly occurred overnight. This morning I started late because I waited out a downpour which also included hail! Almost the size of dimes! I was happy I was still in the motel :-)
A fine, healthy breakfast, while watching olympic highlights :-)
After yesterday's marathon, today's ride of 49 miles seemed genteel... and the wind partly pushed me along today...
I had a delicious BLT in Mount Vernon and a great Philly cheese steak and chicken wings in Plankinton. I know I don't have a huge sample size... but folks in South Dakota seem amazingly nice...

Snapshot: 49 miles, starting at 9:15am and ending at 3:30pm, with 3.75 hours of actual riding:
The prairie is more clean and more beautiful after rain. We can hear the wuthering of wind, glad it’s not against your direction.
Still can't believe you have made it to South Dakota by bike... it boggles the mind! Those plains do feel old and beautiful. What sports have you been enjoying in the Olympics so far? -Nof/Zoë (PS: Hi Mikaela and Robbie!)
Incredible!! Happy riding, Chris!! -Mikaela and Robbie
