Today was a beautiful day for biking: cool with hazy blue skies, but by the end it was tough, fighting a northerly wind whenever the path headed south and hitting several stretches of gravel roads. I had a lot of snacks and drinks and I needed all of them! Here was the view outside my motel window at 6am:
No bike paths today, just county roads that seemed to stretch on forever...
In the small town of Buffalo Lake I stopped in to a smoothie bar called "Catch" and met the owner, Courtney. She plays softball on multiple teams and travels all over the US playing tournaments, and actually won the women's and co-ed World Championship of slow pitch softball! Here she is showing off her championship rings... she plays 1st and 3rd bases and said "I don't hit to get on base..."
Some action shots with musings...
Snapshot: 57 miles, starting at 7:15am and ending at 1:45pm, with 4.5 hours of actual riding:
Fengmei yes great point!
"I don't hit to get on base" Well that's a cool line!! Can't believe the view out of the motel. Makes sense about sometimes being eager to get there - But I see those cars in that first video, I am unmoved, I still say no cars -Nof
I agree with Zoe, when you bike in the middle of nowhere, drivers could be caught off guard by a bike on the road. Please be very careful. Salute to the young lady, she must be living a very fulfilling life, softball and smoothie !
