Day #41: Second Rest Day in Fond du Lac

We had another restful day in Fond du Lac, hanging out with Jim and Diane and their daughter Kim's family, and getting ready for the next 8 days of riding to Minneapolis to visit Jim and Diane's other daughter Katie and her family. My mom also flew into Fond du Lac to take care of some family business. Kim and Adam were gracious enough to invite us all to their 21st anniversary dinner:

When I left Boston on June 1st with Charlie Zuckerman I was lugging 70 lbs of gear on my bike. After climbing the hills to Manchester, I shipped 20 lbs of camping equipment to Fond du Lac. Now I was reunited with it since I think I may need to do some camping West of Minnesota. That means I want to trim 20 lbs of my other gear so I don't balloon back up to 70 lbs. Today I went through my stuff and boxed up whatever I thought I could do without. In the end I shipped 25 lbs back to Boston, so I should be a little lighter heading into the Rocky Mountains.

Having a dinner with family and friends after month long biking must be like super recharging. Wondering is there any chance by adjusting route, you can avoid camping?

It's so lovely to see you all together. Did the Wittgenstein make the cut? :) Oh man... that's wild that you'll have to camp! Nof
