On Thursday I was back on my bike finding a bike shop and having lunch with Mark and his wife Ditte. Mark and I have decided to complete our journeys seperately, so he doesn't have to go to Fond du Lac and Minneapolis, and I can head from Minneapolis straight to San Francisco. As I mentioned before, the architecture in Chicago is really beautiful:
In the late afternoon, John and Ben and I walked down by the lake to the Art Institute of Chicago. The Lakefront had such a joyful vibe, with families playing on the beach and friends hanging out in the parks and sightseeing by "The Bean". The whole world seemed to be on bikes and pushing strollers...
The Art Institute of Chicago was gorgeous (and air conditioned :-). There were many famous paintings and also a wonderful exhibit of miniature interiors from different eras. Below is a slideshow. If you click on the image you can scroll through all the art works:
So fun seeing you three together. And omg, Water Lilies, Nighthawks, American Gothic, the one that "Sunday in the Park with George" is about... I lost count of the times my jaw dropped :) I really like those dioramas too -Nof
“The bean” seems everyone’s stop when visiting Chicago. The buildings are very unique. Read something about the city missed its peak glory, cannot find any tiny bit unhappy from your post :-)
